countdown to Chewtoro...
Now that the world has not come to an end it is officially time to get excited that Chewtoro is coming to RIPT Apparel on Wednesday, May 25th. Since this is our first printing, it's hard to know what to expect. And since this sale occurs online, it'll be tough to know exactly what's happening. We can only hope for the best and be as active as we can during the day of the sale to drum up interest on the internets.

tumblr account (and vice versa)
I am writing a blog entry to announce the opening of our tumblr account:
http://castlepop.tumblr.com/
And then I'll have to make a tumblr entry about this blog.
I should probably tweet about those as well:
http://twitter.com/#!/castlepop
Then post the whole thing to facebook:
http://facebook.com/#!/pages/Castlep%C3%B6p/126748754066130
It's a good thing Deb does all of the actual art.
It give me time to navigate all those social media sites I've heard about on the nightly news.
It's called synergy, people.

Vote for "Slave Leia Mudflap" at Qwertee.com
Our next design is an homage to the most memorable thing about "Return of the Jedi" (at least for a 10-year-old boy). In an instant, Leia's new look burned itself into the collective memory of a generation. Never the shrinking violet, the bad-ass princess even managed to strangulate the mighty Jabba the Hutt whilst in chains.
If you'd like to see this design available on a baby blue t-shirt as much as we would then head on over to Qwertee and vote like there's no tomorrow.

This is your rare opportunity to vote for a princess (since they're usually not elected).
May the force be with you,

Vote for "Chewtoro" on Qwertee.com
Our first t-shirt design was Chewtoro, a whimsical mash-up of Chewbacca, the most famous Wookie of all, and Totoro, a Japanese forest spirit who takes a flying bus shaped like a cat. Now Chewtoro is closer than ever to becoming a reality, by which I mean fulfilling his destiny of appearing on a t-shirt.
If you'd like to help make that a reality, then by all means go to Qwertee.com and vote for Chewtoro.

Thank you for your cooperation,

Colonel Cluckers
Before there was a castlepöp, there was Colonel Cluckers, our first husband/wife art project.
My wife Deborah was using a website called Illustration Friday for inspiration and their topic of the week was "Chicken." I suggested that she draw a proud rooster in a military uniform as we are both fans of animals wearing people clothes. After deciding on the Civil War, the colonel became a strange, hybrid-fowl version of General Ambrose Burnside (the very namesake of the facial hair itself). After the war ended General Burnside became a Senator in his home state of Rhode Island. The decision to make the rooster a Rhode Island Red came easily.
